What is PM-WANI?
PM WANI stands for PRIME MINISTER Wi-Fi ACCESS NETWORK INTERFACE. Basically P.M.-Wani [फ्री वाई-फाई] Free Wifi Registration for Internet access of 5-20 Minutes.
इसलिए सरकार देश के नागरिकों को वाई-फाई की सुविधा उपलब्ध करवाने जा रही हैं। इस योजना के माध्यम से सभी सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर वाई-फाई की सुविधा मुहैया करवाई जायेंगी।

Objective of PM Wani Yojana
Our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi started a free wi-fi scheme during the cabinet meeting yesterday, under the PM WANI Scheme government provided free wifi to our small shopkeepers to increase their income and financial structure. through this scheme, youth will get seamless internet connectivity. This wifi scheme will also boost the digital India plan which we have started before. wifi connectivity will significantly improve across the country that will make a direct impact on our lifestyle. According to the information the central government will establish around one crore data centers across to make this scheme strengthen.
The Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved the proposal of Department of Telecom (DoT) to proliferate Broadband through Public Wi-Fi networks under the framework of the Prime Minister’s Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM-WANI) on 9th December 2020.
Importance of PM-WANI Framework
"To facilitate ease of doing business and encourage local shops and small establishments to become Wi-Fi providers, it has been approved that the last-mile Public Wi-Fi providers require no license, no registration and will not need to pay any fees to DoT."
The hotspots will help the education and health facilities to overcome their problems. The hotspots will also make the facility of the internet available to the people who can’t afford to get one.
How to access broadband on PM-WANI Wi-Fi?
The potential user who wants to access Broadband through Public Wi-Fi will need to download the relevant App, get authenticated, and thereafter access Broadband at any Public Wi-Fi Hotspot.
There will be no licence fee or registration fee for it and businesses can take services from any ISP and use their physical location to provide WiFi. WiFi hotspots at stores, local shops, cafés and many such public places across the country can be set up.
